May 18th – 24th Daily Creates

#tdc5065 #ds106 Going All Nostalgic On Us

For this daily create, I had to pick a song from a year in my childhood. I chose the song Radioactive by Imagine Dragons because I remember listening to it really loudly in my basement with my dad when it first came out. This activity connects to Mayer’s modality principle because the audio paired with imagery from the music video communicated emotion, memory, and meaning more effectively than text alone could.

This daily create asked us to record audio from our current environment.

I recorded audio from the fountain in my backyard. I liked how the sound created a calm atmosphere and captured details that might normally go unnoticed. I think that this activity could relate to the segmenting principle, since listening to a short sound clip allows people to focus on one sensory experience at a time. I also believe that using audio is a great tool for accessible learning.

#tdc3606 #ds106 The Color of A Song

For this daily create, we were asked to pick a song and a colour that we felt was a good representation of it.

I chose the song Vienna by Billy Joel and associated it with the colour yellow because I felt it matched the warm feeling of the song. To be honest, I’m not really sure how this activity relates to the principles of multimedia learning. Possibly the signalling principle? Because the colour yellow could highlight some of the emotions of the song. However, I’m not totally sure, and this activity was pretty tricky for me to connect my learning.
